Roll, Release & Relax Workshop, Singapore

Feeling a little stiff from sitting for too long? General tightness from exercising? Feeling tense and stressed? Life can get in the way of a healthy, pain free body.

In this workshop, you will discover and explore where we tend to hold tension and tightness in our body and learn to use tennis balls to roll and release tense and sore muscles through self-massage techniques (self-myofascial release). Rolling is like a deep tissue massage to release tight, achy spots, where you have total control of the pressure and areas that require attention. This helps to alleviate tension, ease pain, increase flexibility and freedom in movement, and reduce sensations of stress. You will gain valuable yet simple self-care knowledge and techniques that you can use absolutely anytime and anywhere.

This workshop is perfect for everyone! It does not matter if you are a seasoned yoga practitioner or have never tried yoga. No yoga experience is necessary. If you know someone who will benefit from a little rolling in the deep, sign up together for a rolling good time!

Based on a curriculum approach, P&A incorporates a set of essential components, including an embodied practice through specific key alignment principles. Considerations for Shoulders and Neck

The first part of the workshop introduces some of the main principles that comes to guide how we think of our practice as well as in enhances our understanding on how to work with the shoulders and neck in a way that is safe and effective.

You will learn to:

  • Strengthen the shoulders and create greater stability and balance in the shoulders, upper back and neck.

  • Consider ways to decrease repetitive stress in your shoulders in yoga practice.

  • Articulate and integrate the shoulders, upper back and neck safely in a variety of postures.


SESSION 2:

1300-1500

Considerations for Core and Wrists

The second part of the workshop focuses on how to better work from your centre as well as work with the wrists in a way that is safe and effective regards to your asana practice.

You will learn to:

  • Strengthen the core and stabilise the spine in yoga practice.

  • Identify key techniques to decrease repetitive stress in the wrists in weight-bearing postures.

  • Articulate and integrate the core areas of the body in a variety of postures.

Essential Yoga Poses for the Beginning Student Workshop, Singapore

Being a beginning yoga student can be stressful and overwhelming. There are new information on breathing, props, body parts, posture names, tips and cues to guide you into poses, etc. In a public class, things can happen quickly and there may be many things to juggle at the same time, which can make you feel intimidated and shake your self-confidence. Perhaps you prefer home practice and find yourself needing some additional insight to support and reinforce your self-practice.

In this 4 hour workshop, we focus on common yoga poses that you will encountered in most public classes. Standing, balancing and floor poses and their variants will be covered: closed/open hips, side body lengthening poses, twists, forward folds, and front body openers (backbends). We will explore:

  • Using your breath to support your practice

  • Ways to set up and utilise your props

  • Safety tips when working into yoga postures

  • Finding your optimal alignment

  • Variations of the full posture that you can feel confident taking

Come as you are, with a towel and water bottle. Bring along a notebook and pen if you would like to take notes. Feel free to take pictures during the workshop to reinforce your learning.

Join Jeremy and Ryan on a 5D4N Power & Alignment immersion retreat to YTL hotel’s luxury destination in Malaysia, Pangkor Laut Resort, which was voted the world’s best resort in 2003 by Condé Nast Traveller UK.

ABOUT THE IMMERSION:

The retreat includes a 10-Hour immersion on the Power & Alignment methodology. Power & Alignment is a progressive system of hatha vinyasa yoga practice that goes beyond intelligent sequencing and yoga postural alignment, and embodies the whole being: the mind, heart, body, and community. This contemporary life-affirming practice focuses on developing our wellbeing and opening and aligning ourselves to love and contentment. This immersion covers the following:

  • Centreing breath work and mindfulness practices

  • Key anatomical considerations and foundational alignment principles of yoga asana practice

  • Experiential yoga asana practice

  • Group dialogue around text and how we live our lives off the mat

All participants will receive a 10-Hour completion certificate, which can be applied towards Yoga Alliance CET hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

This immersion is open to both teachers and non-teachers who are interested in the Power & Alignment methodology. You DO NOT need to have done a yoga teacher training to attend this immersion.

Hello friends and yogis in Singapore! 2018 certainly had its highs and lows but embracing all that came along, it has been one crazily momentous year.

As we continue to deepen our journeys as yoga teachers, we want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has crossed paths with us, supported us and given us all the love and encouragement that is way more than we could have asked for.
