This retreat has lived in my imagination for some time. I envision a space where yoga and local culture meet along intertwined paths, each deepening and enlivening the other. Roots speak to grounding in practice, to belonging in place and culture. Resonance is the echo of these encounters within us, shaping perspective and inspiring life choices. Here, the heart opens to both inward and outward journeys, where curiosity takes root and fresh ways of seeing ripple beyond.
where we gather
Our 5-day, 4-night journey is set in the gentle hills of San Pa Tong in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, a region celebrated as the cultural heart of the north. Surrounded by rice fields and distant mountain views, Chiang Mai reflects the legacy of ancient kingdoms through its temples, artisanal villages, and living traditions. With its vibrant crafts, distinctive northern cuisine, and seasonal festivals, it provides a rich cultural backdrop for our gathering.
Amidst this blend of history and nature lies our home: an 18-acre boutique estate, once a tobacco-processing site and now revitalised as a haven of culture and ecology. The grounds are home to over 100 plant species and nearly 50 bird species. Heritage barn structures, draped in ivy and embraced by lush tropical gardens, have been lovingly restored as elegant rooms and museums. To wander here is to step into a world where past and present meet, with century-old barns, dappled sunlight across historic laneways, and pathways alive with birdsong and the rhythm of nature.
Our time together
This retreat weaves together yoga, meditation, cultural connection, and time to simply be. With intention and spaciousness at its heart, each day is designed to unfold in ease, presence, and balance.
Yoga and meditation are the threads that hold the journey together. Practices are inclusive for all levels of experience with yoga poses, combining movement and stillness while encouraging attunement and cultivating awareness of your own natural rhythms.
Cultural and ecological encounters add depth to the journey: exploring the estate’s heritage through its grounds, museum, and birdlife walk; engaging directly with the land in a hands-on rice-farming experience; and visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary, where the animals’ well-being is respected above all.
The days are nourished by wholesome meals, quiet interludes, and space to absorb the journey in your own way.
A detailed itinerary will be included in the info pack for all retreat registrants.
